00:54 – Off to DebConf10
I'm going to DebConf10

You may be wondering why a FreeBSD developer is going to a Debian conference. Perhaps the talk I'm presenting has something to do with it.

Of course, the fact that they have good food in New York had nothing to do with why I submitted the talk.

Spending another day over the Atlantic ocean tomorrow. Hopefully the volcano doesn't interfere this time round.

Always enjoy reading your travel stories.

I recommend these restaurants:

I just saw the video of your talk. You seem to hold a grudge against Linux (I don't care, I think the name of the kernel I'm using is irrelevant - the better the kernel, the bettter for me). But you assumed something untrue of Debian (basically you didn't even check Wikipedia, let alone the official site), so here's a comparison of Debian(that's all official kernels) and FreeBSD supported hardware all sorted for you to see the difference - respectively:

IA-32, x86-64, PowerPC, SPARC, MIPS, ARM, IA-64, DEC Alpha, HPPA, S390
IA-32, x86-64, PowerPC, SPARC, MIPS, ARM, IA-64, SPARC64*, NEC PC98

Debian's kernels support SPARC64, but most apps run in 32 bit mode. The argumentation is there isn't much benefit for most apps, but the port is there for the minority - it just isn't official I guess.
In short, according to the wikipedia we support more architectures than you. So please don't think of Debian as some trendy distro like Ubuntu.
We're the big daddy of GNU/Linux distros. We're the biggest. Don't patronize us. We're as old as you are (actually, we have the actual date in the year 1993, you just say "early part of 1993").
