I've met my betters! Usually I win the "snoring loudly" contest at youth hostels around the world. Last night, I was seriously beaten by more than one other snorer. I don't know how to feel about this. I slept like a log most of the time though. A log being sawed in half, of course.
This morning, I discovered that my mind has joined my body in this timezone. Excellent. A brisk walk through Stanley Park this morning further reinforced the local time. Bit chilly and cloudy but no rain. Just now, the sun is also starting to break through the clouds, so it's looking good.
Still trying to sync with the locals. Tricky business. All those busy people! It's labour day weekend guys, relax. :-)
This afternoon, I need to start my raid on the stores. But first, a cup of tea!

Westbound jetlags usually don't bother me much. They probably bother the people around me more. I got to Vancouver a couple of hours ago after a fairly pleasant flight. Air Canada's "entertainment system" was broken again, so I got to add yet another one of their pre-printed compensation cards to the stack I've got at home. Another couple of flights, and I'll get one free! Please don't fix that system guys.
On the flight, I sat next to Ian, a Canadian gentleman who moved here from England more than forty years ago. We had an excellent chat about the wonders of travel and meeting interesting people on the road. When we landed, Ian offered me a ride to my hostel, which saved me tramping up and down three busses with my (very!) bags. Fantastic stuff! thanks Ian!
Vancouver is lovely, and it looks like I'm really lucky with the weather. It's been raining the last couple of days, but now the forecast is all sunny. Super!
Included in the price of a cup of coffee, I'm getting free wireless access at a "big news" jazzy coffee establishment. While I'm still connected to civilization, I'm trying to reach some of the locals. With a bit of luck, I'll be able to trick one or more of them into having dinner with me. That should keep me awake until it's bedtime on this side of the world.
Fun will now commence!
