09:21 – The long wait

08:21 BST

Up criminally early this morning to catch my flight to Heathrow. I get to enjoy the hospitality of the most chaotic place on earth for four hours again thanks to the bizarre booking system of BMI. When I booked my flight, it was scheduled to leave two hours later. A couple of weeks ago though, it was mysteriously moved earlier. This has happened to me before.

Oh well - there is internet access. After a fashion. :-) No TCP for some reason...

The bottle of contact lens solution I was able to get through Terminal 1 on my way home two weeks ago was removed from me in Terminal 3. sigh I should try Wouter's trick of sticking some other sticker on which says "100mL" because they don't make this stuff in smaller bottles. That is to say, they make them in "travel packs" of two bottles of 60mL, curiously 30% more expensive than the single bottle of 120mL.

I hope my bag makes it to Vancouver unscathed. I had to strap my hiking poles to the side. Baggage barbarians love that. To be sure, I duct-taped the lot for extra strength. We'll see.

This is a good time to catch up with email and to try to figure out why my utmp keeps wanting to blow up to 1046312564 bytes. I'm quite sure I'm not logged in 23779831 times.
