Backdated on 2006-02-26 - I was in no fit condition to write anything yestreday, let alone Friday!

The Pre-FOSDEM beer event is over again for another year. As usual, I underestimated the number of people who would attend, and put the bar under severe stress. To complicate matters, the bar decided to put a rather pretty waitress to work for us, in addition to the usual gang old men. Of course, she was overloaded all night long.

We had a minor chaotic incident around 21:00, when the bar got 'clogged' by geeks ordering their beer at the bar, instead of waiting for the ... waiters. In the end, we sorted out hte deadlock by writing "+150 Leffe" on the tally sheet and distributing it ourselves.

On average, we had about 250 people in the Estaminet, with peaks of up to 300 people. ...I had reserved for between 150 and 175 people... The total bill at the end of the evening was 4,033.25EUR. Last year, the bill was only around 2,866EUR.

Every year, I ask myself why do I put myself through this?, and every year I remember. Thanks to all present for a great night - and hopefully see you all again next year for more of the same!
